Dropbox is one of those “can’t live without” services that most of us have only scratched the surface of. Elaine’s presentation covered all the key areas starting with how to sign up for your free account and take advantage of the Dropbox referral scheme.
She then went on to show installing and configuring it on a Mac, an iPhone and an iPad before passing over to me for a demo of setting it up on Windows.
Dropbox provides you with a number of services – a Cloud-based backup, the ability to transfer files between computers (and devices) and the ability to share files with others being amongst them. All these scenarios were covered in our presentation.
Continuing on the Windows theme, Elaine and I used a shared folder to move files between the Windows PC and the Mac – a scenario that I’m faced with on a regular basis, working on both platforms.
If you can’t install the Dropbox client on your computer you can still use and manage the service via the Dropbox web interface.
To finish off with, Elaine demo’d how Dropbox can automatically create an image gallery from a folder of images.
If you haven’t already signed up for a Dropbox account, you can do so via our referral link and get 250MB of extra space free.
